Description
A Star Spike Generator or SSG for short, is a device which uses diffraction to generate star spikes, similar to those seen through Newtonian telescopes. The device fits on the end of the dew shield of your telescope and as such each SSG is designed to fit a specific optical tube assembly.
Features include:
- Felt Pads – Protecting your precious telescope from any damage while ensuring a snug fit.
- Rotation Indent – A marker on the SSG helps reposition the device between imaging sessions to give consistent star spikes.
- Thin Vanes – Emulating the secondary mirror vanes of a Newtonian style telescope, the vanes on our SSGs are thin to help ensure maximum photon capture.
- Reuse your end cap – The end of the SSG is the same diameter of your dew shield so your telescopes end cap can be placed directly on top of the SSG.
Please note, that due to the many variations of these products, they are made using additive manufacturing and as such will not have an entirely smooth surface and layer lines will be visible.
